uӠɑ New Zealand
About uӠɑ
uӠɑ is a worldwide organisation and in New Zealand there are 88 uӠɑs. uӠɑ offers people nearing retirement or already retired with a place to come together in their local community to continue the enjoyment of on-going learning. Plus, participate in interest groups that may involve a past passion or explore new subjects, share one’s own knowledge and learn something new along the way. Interest Group topics and activities are chosen by individual uӠɑ members.
uӠɑ's operate on a democratically run basis and each uӠɑ is responsible for their own operation and annual programme offering. uӠɑ is also committed to protecting the health, wellbeing, and human rights of all individuals. It is not affiliated to any political, religious or ethnic group. This means that no member is to promote a particular political, religious or ethnic viewpoint to the exclusion of any other viewpoint or to use any means to persuade, cajole, bully or intimidate any member into a particular belief system. However, interest groups that objectively research different faiths, political parties or ethnicities are acceptable as they fulfil one of the purposes of uӠɑ and that is to pursue ongoing learning through research and sharing within individual small interest groups.
